West Coast Biennial Juried Art Exhibition
The Friends of the Arts at Turtle Bay in cooperation with Turtle Bay Exploration Park is presenting its second West Coast Biennial Juried Art Exhibition at Turtle Bay. Open to west coast artists currently living in California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska, the aim of the exhibition is to provide a forum for both established and emerging artists working on the west coast in a diversity of media including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture and mixed media.
judging & Awards
The juror for the competition is Scott A. Shields, Associate Director and Chief Curator at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, California. He will select from submitted digital images 40 - 50 artworks to be exhibited in the Turtle Bay Art Gallery. The juror reserves the right to omit artwork upon receipt if it is inconsistent in quality with the projected image, is poorly framed, or has otherwise been misrepresented.

Exhibition timeline
- December 14 - Artwork selected
- December 21 - Artists notified of judging results by email
- January 12 - 14 - Hand-delivered artwork due
- January 16 - Shipped artwork must be received by this date
- January 22 - Juror review and award selection (Lecture by juror Scott Shields)
- January 25 - Artist reception
- January 26 - Exhibition opens
- May 4 - Exhibition closes
- May 6, 7 or 11 - Artists pick up their artwork
Rules
- Maximum of three artworks may be submitted.
- Images must be saved as a .jpg, up to 1.5MB and no greater than 8" X 10"
- Non-refundable $35 entry fee covers up to three artworks.
- Entry must include a signed and completed application form.
- All accepted artwork must be available for exhibition and remain during the entire exhibition period.
- All artwork must include legible labels identifying Artist Name, Title, Medium, Date.
- Artwork must be original and completed within the last three years and not previously shown at Turtle Bay.
- Two-dimensional artwork must be framed with hanging wire or otherwise ready to hang. No colored mats. Artwork under glass without rigid frame will not be accepted.
- Maximum height of artwork is 11' and must be able to pass through a 96" h X 64" w door opening.

- Open registration form (fill in and print out)
- Save all entries to a CD. Label CD with entrant's full name, contact information and accompany with a completed entry form. CD submissions will not be returned. Mail CD, entry form and a non-refundable $35 entry fee to address below. Make checks payable to "Turtle Bay Exploration Park".
