June theme: Phobia Fun. Are you afraid of heights? Does the dark make you nervous? Join our educators and volunteers as we explore common fears and phobias! Test the limits with our virtual reality plank walk, meet a creepy crawly face-to-face or discover how fears can keep our bodies safe! Free for Members / Included with Park admission.

What they lack in size they make up for in numbers! From butterflies to earthworms, bugs come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. This month, join our volunteers and educators as we discover what makes these creepy crawlies tick. Assemble your own butterfly wings, meet an entomologist (a bug scientist) and learn how to dance like a bee at Family 2nd Saturday. Free for Members / Included with Park admission.

April Theme: Sustainability - Join our educators and volunteers as we explore ways to take better care of our world. Meet local hobbyists, investigate plastics and recycling, and discover ways to reduce waste and live sustainably. Free for Members / Included with Park admission.

From painting with watercolors to watching water defy gravity – there will be activities for everyone is the family to enjoy.

Escape the heat and become a prehistoric explorer as we dig up real fossils, uncover dinosaurs from our “tar pit”, or check out The World’s Largest Dinosaurs exhibition. You can also decorate your own reusable canvas bag!

What are the best materials and shapes to make something fly? Play with aerodynamics as you build and test many different floating forms that hover and spin in our wind tube! Can you make an object float, spin or swirl? See what shenanigans your creations can perform!

Light and Sound – both are forms of energy, both travel in waves, and both are coming to Turtle Bay this Saturday! Learn how these energy waves behave and discover how we can use them for fun, mind-bending experiments.

Family 2nd Saturday is a monthly program that enhances the visitor’s park experience by offering additional interactive opportunities. This month, celebrate the Chinese New Year by decorating a red envelope to gift. We will also be coloring on canvas bags to take home along with other art activities. Purchase a bag here or bring your own from home. Fabric markers and stencils will be provided. Canvas bags will be sold in the museum for $4.00 each while supplies last. Free for members, included in Park admission, only at Turtle Bay!

Workshops are on a first come, first serve basis and each is different from the last. Children must be accompanied by an adult to participate in the workshops. Materials will be provided. Squish, crunch, stretch, stack – this hands-on program invites you and your little ones to come enjoy a day that will tingle your senses. Make a snowball, try our obstacle course or shake up our sound boxes as we explore the world around us.

Weaving, watercolor, and wonder-full works - we are pulling out our art supplies and inviting you to join! Located inside the gallery with our Art Exposed exhibition, we want you to be inspired to create and express yourself in our Drop-in Art Studio.
