Fruit Tree Selection and Cultivation with Rico Montenegro

Turtle Bay Exploration Park is offering a garden class on Saturday, January 20, 2018, from 10am-12pm in Turtle Bay’s McConnell Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, free for Turtle Bay members, $3 for non-members.

Join Rico Montenegro, international arborist/ horticulturist and Chief Arborist for the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, as he covers topics such as fruit tree selection, planting, cultivation, and pruning. Special attention will be spent on deciduous fruit trees, such as apples, peaches, plums, nectarines, pomegranate, persimmons, and more.

Participants will learn how to plant and train young trees, how to prune and maintain growing trees, and how to restore old, neglected, and abused trees. This information will also be applicable to all types of trees. Participants are encouraged to bring their own gardening tools as this is a hands-on workshop.
