3 Toed Box Turtle

Range:  Southern Missouri and Oklahoma to Southern Alabama and Western Texas

Habitat: 3 Toed Box Turtles live in cool, shaded weather where they can roam about in comfort.

Diet: Insects, earthworms, fruits, and other vegetation

Lifespan:  70+ years!

Fun Facts

• They are called “box turtles” because they can close up their hard shells in a similar shape to a box.

• 3 Ted Box Turtles are among the smallest of their sub-species, T. Carolina.

• These turtles have a very strong home instinct; they are able to find their home base no matter how far they have ventured.
