Volunteer Spotlight: Roger Pierce

Introducing Our Volunteer Spotlight:
A Lover of Turtle Bay from the beginning!

October 18, 2023

At Turtle Bay, we are fortunate to have a dedicated team of volunteers who contribute their time and energy to make our park a wonderful place for visitors. Each month, we shine a spotlight on one exceptional volunteer. This month, we are thrilled to introduce you to Roger Pierce, who has been a Volunteer at Turtle Bay since the very beginning! With unwavering dedication, he has committed himself to the Turtle Bay Museum Exhibitions and Education department for 21 years.

When asked about his favorite aspect of being a volunteer, Pierce expressed his love for education and wonderment. Pierce retired from being a school teacher in 2002, and has been a volunteer at Turtle Bay ever since! He loves teaching kids an array of subjects and appreciates the opportunity to get out into the community and interact with people. One of Pierces’ favorite memories from volunteering at Turtle Bay has been his help in many exhibitions over the years. Pierce got to dress as Chef Baker for the Titanic Exhibition and was in charge of the severed hand in Bodies Revealed!

Pierce explained how much he loves to volunteer and get to know all the friendly staff and visitors who walk through the museum doors. Like many at Turtle Bay, Pierce strives to inspire wonder, exploration, and appreciation of our world!
