The community eagerly anticipated the Turtle Bay Auction, and this year's event did not disappoint. The theme was "Off to The Races," and guests arrived dressed in their finest Kentucky Derby-inspired ensembles. They were greeted by a stunning display of decorations that transported them to Churchill Downs.
We had 564 registered bidders this year and nearly 200 packages included in the silent and live auctions combined! There were 32 donors to the “Fund-A-Need”, which provides support for our “Unsung Heroes” on the Maintenance and Grounds crews.
In addition to our incredible derby guests, Premiere Catering, provided an impressive spread of refreshments. The cocktails were flowing, and the small bites were a hit with the guests. The pecan pie was especially popular, with many guests returning for seconds.
The highlight of the evening was, of course, the live and silent auctions. A huge thank you to our MC’s Linda Bott and Patrick John as well as our auctioneer Lee Luft. Lee expertly kept the bidding going, and there was a buzz in the air as people competed for the exceptional items and experiences on offer. One of the most unique experiences was the opportunity to be a "trainer for a day." This package generated a lot of interest, and the bidding was fierce.
Eventually, one lucky guest won the experience to work alongside Turtle Bay's Animal Care Team, helping care for some animals. As the night drew to a close, it was clear that the auction had been a huge success. The event raised many funds for Turtle Bay, and everyone had a fantastic time. Guests left with smiles, already looking forward to next year's auction.
