Volunteer Spotlight: Frank Minear

Volunteer Spotlight:
Frank Minear

Did you know that our 500+ volunteers, on average, serve a combined annual total of 23,000 hours? From education programs and special events to animal and gardens care, Turtle Bay would not be nearly as wonder-full without our dedicated volunteers! Each of our volunteers has a unique story about how they became involved in our volunteer program. Every month, we will highlight a new adult or teen volunteer who has made a tremendous impact on our community.

Frank Minear in the Turtle Bay Museum

Frank began volunteering at Turtle Bay in November 2004. He remembers the early years when all that stood on our campus was the boardwalk between the Museum and what is now Mosaic Restaurant. During his 19 years of service, Frank has served approximately 1,000 hours! He currently volunteers most with the education department, but he has served in various departments and enjoys being involved in our special events, such as the Turtle Bay Auction.

When asked about his favorite part of being a volunteer at Turtle Bay, Frank shares, “I love Turtle Bay because you learn something new every time you come in. I get to learn new things and share them with others.” Before volunteering at Turtle Bay, Frank admits that he was quiet and reserved when talking to new people. Now, Frank is passionate about connecting with the community and teaching others about the many facets of Turtle Bay.
