Mosaic Featured Artist: Cory Poole

Cory Poole was born and has lived most of his life in Shasta County. For the last 18 years he has lived in Redding and worked at University Preparatory School teaching Calculus, Physics, and Earth and Space Science. One of the many things he enjoys doing is getting out and exploring the beauty of the North State, often with his wife and their two sons.

Photography has been an obsession for him since going off to college because it allows him to see things in different and unique ways. Astrophotography especially has allowed him to witness the splendor of the cosmos in a very personal way, both through the camera lens and through solo nights in nature. He enjoys trying to figure out the best way to line up the gorgeous landscape of the North State with beautiful celestial scenes, bringing his mathematics skills together with his artist’s eye to determine the best locations for shots. He also loves trying to showcase both the colorful nature of the night sky as well as the myriad of lighting conditions and phenomena such as rainbows, halos, sunsets and sunrises.
