Walk for Wildlife 2025: A Community Morning to Remember
Last Saturday, Turtle Bay Exploration Park welcomed our community for the Walk for Wildlife—and what an incredible morning it was! From the first step on the trail to the last bite of breakfast, the event was filled with laughter, conversation, and a shared commitment to supporting the animals who call Turtle Bay home.
Guests gathered bright and early, lacing up their sneakers and enjoying the cool morning air. The walk brought together families, friends, and individuals of all ages who share a love for wildlife and the environment. As participants strolled along the trails and down the iconic boardwalk, they enjoyed not only the beauty of Turtle Bay but also the chance to meet some of our amazing animal ambassadors.
Families had a wonderful time getting up close with favorites like Banshee the barn owl, Wedge the chuckwalla, Tumbleweed the desert tortoise, Gucci the Opossum, Daintree the jungle carpet python, and our stars of the day—Blossom the skunk and Bristle the porcupine. Along the way, guests also explored a fascinating display of animal bones and had some lighthearted fun at our bubble station, which was a big hit with kids and adults alike.
Fueled by Generosity
We couldn’t have done it without our amazing sponsors, who helped make the morning extra special:
Shasta Dam Kiwanis Club – who served up a delicious breakfast to keep everyone smiling.
SaveMart – who kept us hydrated with refreshing water and juice.
Starbucks – who provided the much-needed coffee to kick off the day right.
Their generosity helped create a welcoming and energizing atmosphere for all participants, and we’re deeply grateful for their support.
Why We Walk
The Walk for Wildlife isn’t just about getting exercise—it’s about giving back. Every step taken that morning supports Turtle Bay’s mission of caring for animals, many of whom are rescues and cannot return to the wild. These animals serve as ambassadors, helping us educate the public about wildlife conservation and the importance of coexisting with nature.
Thank You, Members!
This event was a free member appreciation event, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all of our members. Your support throughout the year helps us care for our animals, maintain our facilities, and continue offering educational programs for the community. We couldn’t do what we do without you!
A special thank-you as well to everyone who purchased one of our Animal Ambassador stuffed animals during the event. Every purchase directly supports food, care, and enrichment for our animals—and we love knowing that a little piece of Turtle Bay went home with you.
Until Next Time
We’re so thankful to everyone who joined us for this year’s walk. Events like these highlight the power of community coming together for a cause that truly matters.
We’re already looking forward to next year—because when we walk together, we walk for wildlife. 💚🐾
