Turtle Bay Auction 2024 Recap

The community eagerly anticipated the Turtle Bay Auction, and this year's event did not disappoint. The theme was "Off to The Races," and guests arrived dressed in their finest Kentucky Derby-inspired ensembles. They were greeted by a stunning display of decorations that transported them to Churchill Downs.

Salmon Release 2024

Turtle Bay Exploration Park in Redding, CA, partners with Coleman Fish Hatchery every year to raise and release chinook salmon to the Sacramento River as a part of the Head Start Program. This is one of the many ways Turtle Bay takes active part in conservation efforts for local wildlife.

This past weekend, Turtle Bay opened Material Culture; Form, Function and Fashion - a unique exhibition curated in-house from our own collection of textiles and materials. this touchy-feely exhibition goes back into pre-history; takes a journey down the Silk Road; examines the roots of the Industrial Revolution; looks at the concept of fashion; and takes a peek at the future of fabric.

This is Cricket, our featured animal this week for the Adopt-An-Animal program. Cricket was part of a barn owl conservation release program. He was held back as an education animal. He arrived at Turtle Bay at 8-weeks old. The trainers named him Cricket for the chirping noise barn owls make when they meet each other at the nest site. Cricket is one of the most reliable animals we use in our educational shows at Turtle Bay.

"We are Members because we believe in Turtle Bay. We love coming here with the kids and we like bringing our relatives from out of town. Where else do you get to go where you can walk in and hold a nectar cup and have birds land on you? That's one of our favorite things about Turtle Bay, there are always hands on activities for the kids to participate in and we look forward to them being old enough to volunteer and spend even more time at Turtle Bay. It's just a really neat, hands-on experience."
